Hans is an experienced health care management professional and PhD candidate with a track record of transforming eHealth. Hans's specialty is in the area of evaluation, specifically multi-disciplinary and multi-method evaluations of the use of information and communication technologies in health care settings. In past projects, he has: conducted ethnographic studies within an organizational context for business process re-engineering purposes, designed outcome and process studies to evaluate the use of hand-held computers and mobile technologies by physicians, conducted formative evaluations for program improvement/development, and taught health care professionals about the principles and techniques of continuous quality improvement (CQI).

Hans began his doctoral studies at the
University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Alejandro (Alex) Jadad, one of the world's foremost experts in ehealth. Hans's PhD research explores if our evaluation tools, developed over the past 30 years, are still appropriate to use in a technologically mediated, increasingly complex, and rapidly changing health care industry. This research will help determine if we need to change how we approach evaluation. He is focusing on mobile technologies in acute and community based end-of-life/supportive care. In addition to his research, Hans maintains an ehealth blog aimed at helping people better understand some of the issues surrounding ehealth, health informatics, and innovation in health care.

Recently, Hans recently joined
